Interview with Roddy Woomble

We spoke to Roddy Woomble (of Idlewild) to get to know him ahead of his solo gig at Rescue Rooms on the 18th October.

Q: How did your current band come together?

A: We met and became friends


Q: Who would you say have been your biggest influences?

A: Poetry from the 1950’s and punk Rock from the late 80’s


Q: Would you say you prefer being in the studio recording new material or playing live shows?

A: I like them both for different reasons. They are very different from each other.


Q: What was the first music festival you went to – as a fan or indeed as a performer?

A: As a fan, Glastonbury in 1992, as a performer Reading in 1998


Q: Do you have a favourite venue/city to play live? (They don’t have to be the same!)

A:Glasgow Barrowlands

Q: If you had to only play festivals or headline sets for the rest of your career, which would you prefer?

A: headline sets. I like a soundcheck


Q: Do you have a favourite song to play live?

A: Currently ‘like Caruso’


Q: What are your ambitions for the future with this project?

A: I’d like people to buy and then enjoy this album


Q: And finally… If you could have written one song in history yourself, what would you have preferred it to be? A: ‘Forever Young’ by Bob Dylan
