Although a new festival in the UK, Wide Awake has amassed a cult following as well as many big up-and-coming UK names to grace their stage.
For one day only, Brockwell Park in South London is transformed into a buzzing microcosm of magnificent music with a line-up to make your jaw hit the floor. Only in its 3rd year, Wide Awake festival boasts a line-up of indecent heft, with leftfield pop sensation Caroline Polachek headlining in one of her few UK appearances of the summer. The ensuing line-up is impeccable, with enough names to make any self-respecting music fan start to salivate, hosting the likes of Alex G, Black Country New Road, Jockstrap, Shygirl and Viagra Boys as well as DJ sets from Daniel Avery and Joy Orbison to name a few. Touted as “a celebration of independent music and counterculture”, Wide Awake acts as a beacon for alternative music, rock, experimental and everything in between. The scale of talent and variation packed into this line-up is unbelievable, all fitting into one perfect Saturday in May. As day festivals go, this is one not to be missed
