There’s something quite special in the pipeline, coming to us from Bar None Recordings. This release from Alex Chilton was born from a power failure at his solo gig at The Knitting Factory NYC back in February 1997.
With a borrowed acoustic guitar from a member of the crowd and only the diehard fans staying put, Electricity by Candlelight is a raw and intimate recording from one of the most notable musicians from the American underground.
Far from his No.1 hit ‘The Letter’ as lead singer of the sixties band Box Tops, or ever loved band Big Star, this live solo recording will take you to that New York venue almost 17 years ago for a unique gig with Alex Chilton, with sing-alongs and Johnny Cash covers included. This release brings you a wonderful and personal experience straight from a snap of musical history. Listen to the four song sampler below and let us know what you think!
Alex Chilton – Electricity by Candlelight is out 21st October on Bar None.
