Preview: Jaws @ Manchester Club Academy

For a band with its origins (and accents) firmly in Digbeth, Birmingham, it is perhaps surprising that Manchester gigs for this youthful band have a distinct homecoming feel.

As one of only three standalone headline gigs before fulfilling various festival slots across the country, it is no coincidence that the 4-piece have opted to descend on Manchester’s Club Academy venue on Tuesday for a highly-anticipated sold out show. Having played a show at Sound Control, just down the road from Tuesday night’s venue during the tour in the immediate aftermath of the release of their second album ‘Simplicity’, it has not taken the group long to be drawn back!

Highlights of the gig are expected to be mixed – debut album favourites such as ‘Swim’, ‘Be Slowly’ and ‘Gold’ are doubtlessly set to be met with feverish reaction from the crowd; however at their recent show at the local 2Q Festival in Derby, there was also a great response from the crowd to songs from the new album, with ‘17’ and first single from the record ‘Right in Front of Me’ potentially set to become new crowd favourites of the future.

This being the second sold out gig within 6 months in the city of Manchester, good things are expected on Tuesday night, where no one, you would imagine, will leave disappointed
